Title: From Challenges to Leadership… A Palestinian Woman from Gaza Turns Her Idea into a Successful Project

June 28, 2026

Amid the difficult economic and social conditions in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian young woman Mariam Khaled managed to create a different path for herself after turning her passion for handmade crafts into a small project that has now become a steady source of income for her and her family.

Mariam began her journey with simple resources from inside her home, where she designed handmade products inspired by Palestinian heritage, using embroidery and traditional colors to create unique artistic pieces. Over time, her products began attracting wide attention on social media, encouraging her to develop her work and expand her production.

Mariam says that the beginning was not easy. She faced several challenges, including the shortage of raw materials, marketing difficulties, and limited financial resources. However, she emphasized that determination, family support, and her confidence in her ability to succeed were key factors that helped her continue.

Mariam’s success did not stop at her personal project. She also began training a number of women and young girls in embroidery and handmade design skills, with the aim of empowering them economically and helping them create work opportunities from home.

Mariam’s story is an inspiring example of the Palestinian woman’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities and prove her presence in society despite difficult circumstances. This experience also reflects the importance of supporting small women-led projects, given their role in strengthening women’s economic independence and preserving Palestinian identity and heritage.

Mariam hopes to develop her project in the coming period to reach wider markets, while continuing to train more women, believing that a woman’s success is only complete when she opens the way for others.
